SLIDER

on doing all things fall related.

10.23.2013

I've already told you about my love of fall. Let's be honest, who doesn't enjoy fall? So in order to embrace all things fall, C and I headed out for the requisite fall apple/pumpkin picking. There were tons of people doing the same thing. I'm not sure what it is but C and I are very sensitive to the amount of kids around us lately. Why are they everywhere we go? Our next activity will be strictly kid free. But seriously, we are so not ready for children. No. Just no.

Anyway, we picked apples, took pictures, and C attempted a little juggling. Just as we were heading back, I realized I'd lost my sunglasses. Grrrrr nothing irritates me more than losing something, especially something of some value. We scoured the orchard looking for them to no avail. I'm sure one of those annoying rug-rats picked them up and took them home. Cynical much? Ugh.

We then made it over to the pumpkin patch where I found the most perfect white pumpkin. Prepare to be glitter-ized virgin pumpkin!!

After a 30 minute wait in line to check out (more rug-rats), we headed back home where I proceeded to burn my pizza lunch in the toaster over. #roughday

Last Friday night, C got a text from my sister inviting us to hop on a ferry and visit her in Nantucket. Thanks to some strong drinks, we talked ourselves into the trip and booked a ferry at 10pm Friday night. After a quick 3 hour drive to Hyannis in Cape Cod, we caught our ferry and were on our way. It was a super windy day which lead to an "interesting" ferry right. I'll spare you the details. Once we landed, my sister picked us up and we headed off to her resort, The Wauwinet. It's THE most glamorous hotel in all of Nantucket. We felt spoiled and very lucky to have snagged a room there for the night. My sister was so sweet to treat us to chocolate, cupcakes, and sweet surprises for our three month wedding anniversary (queue cheesiness...). We spent the weekend exploring the island and taking in the sights. We tried some great, locally brewed pumpkin beer and made sure to check out all the beaches. It was a quick trip but definitely worth it! Hopefully we'll get to go back next summer when we can actually spend some time laying on the beach.

favorite fall finds.

10.09.2013

Ok can we talk about fall for a second? This is our first fall back on the east coast. I am LOVING it. Granted, it's been pretty mild so far but I'm just loving sweaters, boots, jackets and scarves. Now can we talk about fashion for a sec? This is not a fashion blog and I can promise you that you'll never see outfit posts. That being said, I really need you guys to know about a few amazing fall finds. I'm not one to keep something I love to myself so I must share these amazing fall staples with you.

The jacket is a total Barbour rip off and you know what...I'm ok with that. I've had my eye on those jackets for a long time because I think they have a classic, timeless look. I love that this one comes with the removable fleecy vest and a lower price tag. I'm also really digging the corduroy elbow patches. Even better, they have a 15% "student" discount.

The elbow patch sweater is all but sold out but I'm sure JCrew will be making more. I scored the camel colored one during JCrew's 25% off sweater sale and got an additional 15% off for being a student married to a student. Score! Can you tell I currently have a thing elbow patches?

The sweater dress was a STEAL from the JCrew outlet. I only paid like $30...way less than what it's listed for online. Tip: Always hit up the outlet store first because, in my experience, the store always has better deals than the online factory store.

Ok now I cannot take full credit for these booties. I got the rec from a work friend. Here's a spoiler for you...they are from...TARGET! I know, nuts. Also, they come in black. Also, I bought both colors because I couldn't decide. $30. Go get them now.

In fact, I wore the sweater dress and tan booties to work today and loved the look. I think I'm getting on the bootie train (hmm, doesn't quite sound right....)

september beauty favorites.

10.01.2013

Technically, it's not September anymore, but technically, who cares. Here's the stuff I've been loving this month...surprise surprise, more Bobbi Brown and more Origins!

Do these photos look familiar? I snapped these this evening while we had a bit of that dusk light left. Working full-time is definitely taking my attention away from this space but I'm doing my best to keep things going around here.

Origins >>> I'm really loving this highly coveted Checks & Balances face wash. It lathers up really nicely and leaves my face feeling squeaky clean. I like that it's intended to help balance out your skin's PH which I learned a lot about from my friend Casey.
The Out Of Trouble face mask is new to my arsenal. I like it even better than the Charcoal mask. It definitely helps my oily skin feel less slick. I seriously want to use it every day. Now onto this moisturizer which I thought was a total gimmick at first.
The GinZing energy-boosting moisturizer is supposed to make your skin more awake. I love that it's oil-free and that it's very light. It doesn't leave my skin sticky and layers nicely under my tinted moisturizer.

Bobbi Brown >>> I've always loved her line and I don't know why I every try to sway from it. I've tried every type of tinted moisturizer and BB cream out there and I'm finally back to the original, the first one I tried and loved (I wear Extra Light). It's oil-free and super light with the perfect amount of coverage. It honestly doesn't look like I'm wearing makeup at all and gives me a great even palette. I don't know why I ever tried to replace it.
I recently picked up a Shimmer Brick in Beige also from BB. This is my first foray into the coveted shimmer brick and I'm really liking it. It's very sheer and adds the perfect amount of highlighting. I like that it does double duty as eye shadow. It's also impossible to photograph this thing...so check out the color online. It's a splurge for sure but at least it has two uses.
I'm posting about another Bobbi lipstick because she just knows how to make a great neutral. This color is called Bare Pink and is a little more of a nude color with less pink tones on me. I love it for work and "everyday".

Arrojo Protective Thickening Lotion >>> When I cut off my hair two weeks ago, my stylist recommended a few products by this brand. This thickening lotion is one of my favorites. It's made for people with fine hair who want heat protection without weighing down hair. I definitely think it gives my hair more umph and more styling power. I like that I'm also protecting my hair from styling tools and elements. I'll be honest here...I don't love how any of the Arrojo products smell. Maybe because they are made by a dude? I desperately wanted my stylist to recommend Moroccan Oil products because they smell insanely good. Luckily, the smell doesn't stick around very long so it only bothers me when I first spray it. It's not unpleasant, just kinda manly smelling.

Dior Nail Glow >>> You guys already know that I'm obsessed with the Dior Lip Glow which works like a charm, makes my lips feel amazing, and give my this great pink glow. When they launched the Nail Glow, you couldn't get it anywhere. I was also skeptical of spending $24 on a nail product. But, I paint my nails all the time and the french manicure is something I've yet to master. My thoughts? I like it! I definitely get a very polished look with whiter whites and pinker nail beds. It's great for that quick "oh shoot I need something on my nails" moment.
