mileage.
The Dallas Half Marathon is officially 30 days away. I’m pumped. Really though. This has always been a goal of mine (even if I didn’t know it).
So obviously I’ve been training my little booty off. I’m still swimming and I’m still biking and I’m even doing weights. I probably only run about 2-3 times a week. The longest I’ve run for is one hour which equates to about 5-6 easy miles.
I’m no where near 13.1 miles.
When I realized today marked the 30 day countdown, I freaked out a little bit. I signed up for this race in July. At that point, the race was 5 months away. I didn’t think much of it.
30 days.
So I texted my coach this morning hoping for some wise words of wisdom. After all, he’s my coach. He’s supposed to know what he’s doing.
The exchange went something like this:
And that was that. So obviously I have no reason to worry. So silly. That’s why I have a coach. So I don’t have to do the thinking. He emails me the schedule each week and I just do the workouts. Simple.
I don’t know why I’m over thinking it. I’m guessing it has something to do with the fact that this is my first half, that I’ve never run for more than an hour, that 13.1 miles seems like a lot, that I want to meet my goal time, that I have high expectations, that I have expectations at all…
So for all you pro runners out there, now is the time to chime in! Come at me! I need all your best “first half marathon” advice! Aaaanndddd GO!
